Physical Examination


Carrying out physical examination camp as per designed Protocol for individuals > 18 yrs. of age. (Includes different anthropometric measurement - body weight, height, waist circumference, hip circumference, examination of skin, nails, eyes, ears, thyroid gland, breasts, different joints of the body, chest, nervous system, cardiac system and abdomen)



Blood Test


Blood sample tests were done as per the specified age groups (0-17 yrs; 18-24 yrs; 25-34 yrs; 35-44 yrs; 45-54 yrs; 55-64 yrs and age ≥ 65 yrs) by gender specific stratum. 20% of the populations were selected from each group by random sampling for the blood test.

Blood tests included:

  • Serology for Hepatitis A,B,C AND E
  • Haemoglobin and Blood Group Detection
  • Bio-chemistry (Fasting Glucose, Fasting Cholesterol, Fasting HDL-C and fasting Triglyceride) only for individuals ≥ 18 yrs


Pulmonary Function Test


Pulmonary function test (PFT) is carrying out in the study population of Barrackpore as per designed Protocol. In the inception of the pulmonary function test, Spirometric measurement has been performing periodically since 2005 using a mechanical wedge spirometer (VITALOGRAH) as part of the same longitudinal cohort study. At present, a pre-calibrated computerized spirometer, model RMS-Helios-401 is used for the PFT test in accordance with the standard of lung function testing of the American Thoracic Society and European Respiratory Society (ATS/ERS).
